We Offer Several Dental Sedation Options For Dental Anxiety

Non-IV Sedation

Non-IV Sedation at dentistOften, dental anxiety and fear of visiting the dentist prevent many people from getting the dental care they need to safeguard their oral and general health.

Whether you have a dental phobia, have had a traumatic experience at the dentist’s office in the past, or simply feel anxious about a specific upcoming procedure, with sedation dentistry, you can rest easy and relax while accessing the dental care you need to stay healthy.

At Eastgate Dental Excellence, we’re pleased to offer sedation dentistry with non-intravenous methods to help even those with extreme fear of the dentist get the care they need without the stress.

Non-IV Sedation Options

You can pick the relaxation method that works best for you, your relaxation needs, and your lifestyle. We offer the following non-IV sedation dentistry services.

Nitrous Oxide

Commonly called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that reduces anxiety and helps you to relax while staying fully awake and conscious during your dental appointment.

Inhaled through a small mask placed over your nose, we administer nitrous oxide for the duration of your appointment and turn it off as your procedure nears completion. The sedative effects of nitrous oxide wear off very quickly, so you can drive yourself home following your appointment as long as you are comfortable. Of course, the choice to arrange alternative transportation is always yours.

Oral Sedation

With oral sedation, our dentists write you a prescription for an oral sedative medication before your scheduled appointment date. You will need to fill the prescription and take the medication at the recommended time before your appointment is scheduled to begin.

Oral sedation allows you to be fully relaxed by the time you arrive at our office and your procedure begins. You will remain completely relaxed and mostly awake throughout your appointment, but you likely won’t leave with very vivid memories of your procedure.

Due to the strength and long life of oral sedation, you must arrange for transportation to and from our office on the day of your procedure because you will not be able to drive safely.

Overcome Your Anxiety With Sedation Dentistry

If you feel anxious about an upcoming appointment, have had a traumatic dental-related experience in the past, or suffer from a serious fear of the dentist, we encourage you to contact our office to learn more about sedation dentistry and how it can benefit you.

We welcome you to discuss your specific anxieties and triggers with our team so that we can do our best to always create a calm, relaxing, and stress-free experience for you in our office.
